It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

It needed as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to go out there and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was removed her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wished she had played through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
